Frequently Asked

The questions we hear most from wrestlers, parents, and prospective team members.

01

Do I need experience to join?

No. Most wrestlers start with zero background. If you're willing to show up and work, we'll teach you everything from stance to scoring. If you are interested, you can also try out one of the off-season clubs.

02

When and where are practices?

The team practices or competes 6 days per week. We will usually have a competition during the week and one on the weekend. Practices are immediately after school in the War Memorial Multi-Purpose room. The first practice of the year will take place the Monday after Thanksgiving (11/30 for 2026 season).

03

Can I join mid-season?

It depends, until the cutoff set by the MIAA. Reach out as soon as possible — the earlier you start, the more competitive matches you'll get.

04

What gear do I need?

Wrestling shoes, headgear, athletic shorts, and a t-shirt for daily practice. Singlets are issued by the program for competition. Mouthguards are required if you wear braces.

05

How do weigh-ins work?

Weigh-ins happen within one hour of a dual or tournament start. We manage weight cuts gradually and safely — no crash cuts, no skipped meals. See the Health & Diet page for our approach.

06

What if I have to miss practice?

Submit the Absence Form before the missed session whenever possible. Unexcused absences affect lineup decisions for upcoming meets.
